Description

The Espada Acequia (Espada Aqueduct), also known as Piedras Creek Aqueduct, was built by the Franciscan Friars in 1731 to supply irrigation water to the lands near Mission Espada.

Mission Espada was also founded in 1731, a friary built in 1745 and the church was completed in 1756.

The church, aqueduct and friary of Mission Espada is still in active use and Franciscan Friars still reside within the walls of the Mission.

Location: San Antonio Missions State Park, San Antonio, Texas
